Alistair Overeem, born on May 17, 1980, in England and raised in the Netherlands, is known as one of the most versatile fighters in the combat sports world. With an impressive career in both kickboxing and MMA, he has more than earned his nickname “The Reem” by winning world championships in both disciplines.
At the end of 2023, after 25 years of top-level competition, Overeem decided to retire from the sport. He attributes his long-lasting success as a fighter to a conscious lifestyle and a deep connection between body and mind. For Overeem, fighting goes beyond just technique and strength; it encompasses respect, mental resilience, and caring for a healthy body: “My holistic view of the body has taught me many things that have made a difference in my career,” Alistair states.
In his free time, he enjoys experimenting in the kitchen, which he sees as his personal laboratory. Here, he develops healthy meals and snacks and regularly bakes banana pancakes with his children.
Alistair shares his expertise on mental strength and health through training sessions and workshops. Elements such as ice baths and breathing techniques, inspired by his connection with Wim Hof, play a central role. His mission is to make people healthier and more resilient by sharing his knowledge and experience on social media and at events.
